Ask a Yogi-“What is Gyan Mudra?”

What is Gyan Mudra?

A mudra is a hand position that guides energy flow in a particular way.  One of the most common mudras is Gyan (Gian) Mudra used to increase wisdom and knowledge as it engages receptivity and calmness.  To form Gyan Mudra, put the tip of the thumb together with the tip of the index finger.  The index finger is related to the planet Jupiter which is connected to expansiveness.  To create a more active and projective energy, curl the index finger under the thumb so that the fingernail is against the joint of the thumb. Visit 3HO to learn more on mudras used in Kundalini Yoga.
