Andrew moved to Tucson from north California in the Fall of 2023 with his dog Teal. Going through some personal life transitions and being challenged with seasonal affective disorder, Andrew wanted to be part of several communities and practice yoga.
When he googled yoga, not focusing on the distinctions between all the different forms of yoga, he found a class close to his house and met Ramgeet who was teaching.
What touched Andrew was a real sense of community and a warm welcome. He also enjoyed the blend of vinyasas, savasana, and meditations. Andrew loves the fact that we keep our eyes closed during kundalini practice. For him, it allows everyone to experience their own journey and connection to spirituality with humility and authenticity. Andrew also appreciates experiencing a connection to something bigger than himself, where the sense of self dissolves and a connection to something greater appears.
With a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and a master’s in public health, Andrew now works with Planned Parenthood, assuring that every location in the USA works and offers services in alignment with the organization’s ethics and principles.
When Andrew does not work, he goes hiking and camping in the wilderness. He also loves to run in the desert. His last adventure was in Corsica, France. His next adventure this Summer is to hike around the Mont Blanc in France doing 18 miles a day or so for 6 days! This is what Andrew likes to say about his hiking experience:
“With all the extra stuff/worries of life aside, I can be awake to nature and notice the mystery and beauty that is always buzzing if I just stop to pay attention. The forces of nature and the cosmos are aspects of a higher power that I’m curious about. Like being in nature, yoga provides an opportunity for a type of back and forth with those forces.”
We hope to see Andrew at one of our camping retreats soon. Thank you, Andrew, for being part of our community!
