![Listening is paying attention, and can mean action or respect. We can connect to another person by hearing with both ears to their words and witnessing, not judging or trying to fix anything. The wisdom of mantras is carried on the Naad, the sound current, waves that vibrate the eardrum. The person chanting feels those vibrations from the inside, directly from the larynx and nasal passages. Deeply listening is a practice. By listening to feelings in the body we can learn how to care for ourselves with appropriate movement, rest and nourishment. What do I need: to relax, flow, build strength, connect with myself, expand my field of view outside of myself? Can I allow enough silence to listen to my soul? Do I know my heart’s deepest desire? The fourth chakra, the heart center, is called Anahata. It means the “unstruck sound” and we can listen for this vibration with all the senses to understand All That Is. As a Sangha we look forward to being attuned to the skill of listening during the month of April.](https://yoga4alltucson.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Barb-Piasecki-Sant-Saroop.jpg)

![Water can spill uncontrolled and destructive; or flow directed and beneficial. In that way it is like the mind. It can take many shapes and forms and fill spaces. In Hinduism, the water-filled kamandalu, or oblong water container, carried by ascetics, represents a simple and self-contained life. Do you have a reliable container for your mind? Your emotions? What is its’ shape? Is it made of metal, wood, clay or is it a gourd? Is your mind like water? Does the slightest breath create ripples of endless thoughts and reactions? Is there a lot of debris or murkiness in the waters of your mind? Water carries things with it. How can we access the flow of life and the flow of our emotions to drop resistance and lighten ourselves up?](https://yoga4alltucson.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/July2024Theme-Yoga4All-1024x791.jpg)
