This month, I invite us to explore the theme of Portals—thresholds that invite us to move from one way of being to another, shifting something in our inner and outer worlds.
There are many kinds of portals. Some are found in nature: the meeting of the sea and the shore, sunrise and sunset, a forest path, or a circle of ancient trees. Others are marked by events in the sky, such as the full and new moon, eclipses, or the alignment of planets and stars. This month brings one such symbolic alignment: the 8/8 Lion’s Gate Portal, when Sirius, the Sun, and the Earth align. Many people experience this time as an invitation to courage, creativity, and transformation.
Some of the most profound portals are those we encounter in our own lives: birth and death, endings and beginnings, loss and love, illness and healing. These thresholds often ask us to let go of what no longer serves us so that something new can emerge.
In Kundalini Yoga, we work consciously with these inner thresholds through breath, meditation, mantra, and the bandhas—energetic gates that help us cultivate awareness and direct the flow of prana.
As we practice together this month, let us become more aware of the thresholds we encounter and the opportunities they offer for growth and transformation. I invite you to reflect: What threshold am I standing at? What is asking to be released? What is asking to be born?
May our practice help us recognize the portals already present in our lives and give us the courage to step through them with presence, trust, and an open heart and mind.
With much love,
